Garden #5 – The Plein Air Garden, the Placitas Community Library
The Placitas Community Library outdoor native garden will be on display again for the 2017 Garden Tour. This location will be the hub of tour activity on Sunday May 21, 2017. In addition to an award winning landscape of native plants, many of which are labeled, and a meditative labyrinth garden, the library will accommodate the Plein Air Gallery of garden paintings completed prior to and during the tour by accomplished artists. These paintings will be for sale to the public. Proceeds from the painting sales will benefit the participating artists, and a portion of the sales will benefit the sponsoring non-profit all-volunteer organizations: the Placitas Community Library and the Sandoval County Master Gardeners. In addition, the Library will host Sandoval County Master Gardeners and public volunteers, who can answer horticultural and garden tour questions. Guided tours will be available for touring the library grounds and gardens at specified times.
Garden Education will be provided by the Albuquerque Daylily Society and Master Gardeners. Different varieties of day lily starts will be available for sale along with other plants.
The Placitas Community Library garden is a beautiful tour rest stop at which you can purchase garden tour tickets, drop off your garden raffle ticket, obtain garden and tour information, browse the art gallery, and enjoy refreshments. A gourmet food truck will be available on site to serve beverages, breakfast and lunch items to tour guests.
