2018 Garden #3

“Jardin Secret”

A row of 40-foot cedar trees line the front driveway turn-around area, which is anchored in the center by a large one-seeded juniper in a circular landscaped area graced with volunteer cacti.  This large, two-acre property not only features the entry patio area, but it is landscaped all around the home.  Enter the front gate, and you will find yourself in a high walled, private flag-stoned courtyard, resplendent with an abundance of plant life. There is a beautifully designed sitting area that surrounds a moss rocked fire pit and backs up to a raised planting bed and the high courtyard wall.  Several planted beds, a water feature, and a centered fountain add dimension to the curving, flowing design.

A strong focal point of the courtyard is the long elegant home entrance portal, further shaded at one end by a mature green ash tree, where a view of the entire courtyard and a tree top view of the Sandia Mountains may be enjoyed.  The owner designed the front entrance and courtyard, selected suitable plants for Placitas, and then had the extensive hardscape and landscaping/irrigation completed by a local landscape company in 2014.

Along with being a dedicated gardener, the owner is a pottery and sculptural artist. You will enjoy examples of the owner’s art and creative landscaping details gracing the property.
